Life's Reflections

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, and I have kept the faith "

2 Timothy 4:7

Peacefully on Friday morning September 16, 2022 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA our Heavenly Father touched "Tyrone Claude Givens Sr." with a final finger of love and whispered "My child, it's time to enter your eternal home free from pain and suffering to rest from your labor."

Tyrone was born in Amelia, Virginia on May 19, 1949. He was the seventh of nine children born to the late Chester and Alice Wood Givens. He was a graduating member of Amelia County High School Class of 1970.

Early in his life, Tyrone accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized and became a member of the Bethia Baptist Church. Down through the years Tyrone has always remained a loyal, dedicated and supportive member of his church by serving in whatever capacity that was necessary to carry on the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Before his illness, he served as Deacon, Chairman of Trustee Ministry and Superintendent of Sunday School, Combined Choir and Male Chorus member. The songs that he sang were "It Gonna Rain", Tramping-Trying to Make Heaven My Home and "I Know the Lord Will Fix It. "

After completing his education, he obtained employment at Sonoco Products Company in Richmond where he worked until he retired after thirty-six years of service. After his retirement, he was employed by Amelia County Public &hoofs as Bus Driver where he remained until his illness.

During his walk in life, he met and married Selena Booker on November 8, 1970. From this union, they were blessed with four children: Tyrone Jr., Michael, Melanie and Nina.

Because of his personality and character, Tyrone was affectionately called many names by his family and friends: "G," "Tee," "Papa," "Drag," and "Mr. Big Hands" and just "Daddy." Tyrone was known to be easy-going, laid back, hard-working, and loved by all who knew him. He greeted everyone with an infectious smile, firm hand shake and hug and talked to them with no reservations. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. His family was very special to his heart in that he spent a lot of quality time with them.

Tyrone was an avid gardener and farmer. He loved to hunt with the Scott's Fork Hunting Club. He loved old cars and restoring them. He loved sports. He not only played softball and    baseball, but    coached    Little    League     football     and     Community Softball and Baseball teams. Overall, Tyrone had an appreciation for life and was very mindful of God's Blessings. He touched many in a very special way and his impact will be lovingly remembered and continually celebrated by all who had the opportunity to

know and love him. Family first, where he lived in his community - Scott's Fork and where he worshiped - BethiaBaptist Church was the essence of his being.

Tyrone is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Chester and Walter and one sister Nettie.

He leaves to cherish his legacy of love and. friendship: a devoted wife of fifiy-two years, Selena Givens; four children: Tyrone Jr., Michael (Erica), Melanie (Ethan), and Nina (Kendell); eleven grandchildren: Shannon, De' Shonda, Michael, Khadija, Briarna, Keyon, Malik ,Destiny, Jordan, Jamie, and Ja'Qui; sixteen great-grandchildren; five siblings: Mary Friend, Frances Brown, Alice Worsham (Frank), Addie Monroe (John),Jacqueline Booker (Frank);three sisters-in- law: Lillian Hicks (Harold), Emma Hicks, Catherine Booker; three brothers-in-law, Frank, Gilbert and Arnold (Gloria) Booker; one loving and devoted cousin, Nettie Wright of Akron, Ohio; two bonus grandchildren: Ryanna and Ryleigh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

''A gentle wind blew across the land, reaching out to take a hand, for on the winds the angels came, calling out our loved one's name."

One Day

"A Time ForReflection" One day, I'll see Jesus

One day, I'll have my meeting with God

.One day, I'll take my place in Glory On that Great Day, I'll be going home.

Oh, now you don't have to worry

For I've already made my peace with the Lord You see, where I'm going there'll be

No more pain or struggle

On that Great day, only rest will fdl my soul

I'm going to that place He prepared for me Oh no, no, I won't be alone

Those who have gone on before me

Will be there waiting, waiting to welcome me home.

One day, I'll see Jesus

One day, I'll have my meeting with God.

One day, I'll take my place in Glory On that Great Day,I'll be going home.
