Obituary of Percy Smith

Percy Smith, age 74 of Amelia went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 11, 2021 at the Wellsprings Health Center in Amelia, Virginia after declining health.
He was born in Amelia County on October 13, 1946 to the late Rebecca Smith.
Percy also known as “Scout” and “Rock” was educated in the Amelia County Public Schools and became a Christian at an early in life. He was a faithful member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church and attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church regularly.
He was known for being a hard and dedicated worker starting out at Roberts Farm in Amelia, moving on to work at Alleghany Tobacco Warehouse in Richmond, and also as an attendant at the V. Y. Scott Funeral Home.
Percy was a jovial person and happy to be around people, helping anyone that he could.
His final days were in the home of Mrs. Connie Johnson and her late husband until he went to the Nursing Home.
He is survived by his nephew, Roy Smith of Dinwiddie, VA; cousins, Hattie and Floyd Butler of Petersburg, VA, and Frank Wilson of New Jersey; other relatives and devoted friends.
Viewing will be Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 12:00 to 6:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Graveside service will be on January 20, 2021, 11:00 AM at the Little Bethel Baptist Church.
