Jermayne was such a wonderful guy... We weren’t super close, but we both did political work in the Hampton Roads area and whenever we’d see each other - we’d always take the time to catch up and talk a bit. My best memory of Jermayne was the night Elaine Luria beat Scott Taylor to be elected to Congress in 2018... Jermayne and I sat in the lobby of the hotel where the election results event was being held and drank a few beers.
I had no idea that would be one of, if not the, last time I saw my politico friend.
A couple months before Jermayne passed, we both were in Philadelphia and at the 76ers/Lakers game on January 25th, the day before Kobe passed. I remember making a post about touring Philadelphia, and Jermayne commenting explaining he was in the area and inquiring on if we could link up... I so wish we had.
I will always hold your memory close to my heart Jermayne.
I will continue to do the work for the community that you cared so much about while I’m here.
Thank you for your kindness and friendship.
Love forever, Duke
