On Monday, November 27, 2023, God dispatched his angels to the Medical College of Virginia hospital to bring home his REVEREND ERVING L. BOOKER. Reverend Booker was born on October 31, 1947, to the late Mrs. Celia Booker Royal and Mr. Herman Sheff. He was reared by his aunt and uncle, Mr. Richard and Mrs. Jennie B. Holcomb.
At an early age, Reverend Booker was baptized and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church. He sung on the Male Chorus, The Mass Choir, licensed as a Minister and did whatever he could to help build up God’s Kingdom. He also built the Church’s Fellowship Hall.
He was a member of the Russell Grove High School Class of 1966. One of the highlights of his life was gathering with his classmates. He was a Class A Building Contractor. In 1973- he married the love of his life- Deaconess LaFreida M. Booker. To this union- five children were born. In 2002- he was called to pastor Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Rice, Viriginia. After twelve years of Pastoring at Bethel Grove – he returned to his home church – Mount Olive where he served as Associate Minister, Church Contractor and did whatever was asked of him.
His love and concern for the welfare of children was impeccable. He was always supportive of and loved his family, community, and church. He always carried a wonderful smile and was always thinking of others and how he could be helpful to them in a kind way. His spiritual growth became more solid and expressive as he bravely faced whatever storms that came in his life.
Preceding him in death are his son- Ervin, Jr (aka- Lee) daughter - TaWanda (aka- Rena), three sisters and two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 50 years – LeFreida M.
