Obituary of Donnell Caywood Barley
Please share a memory of Donnell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donnell Caywood Barley was born Tuesday, February 10, 1970, in Washington, DC, son of Benjamin and Mamie Barley.
A graduate of Susquehanna High School, Class of 1988, Donnell’s employment path included lineman for the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company and truck driver for the J B Hunt Company.
Donnell loved motorcycles, Ford Mustangs and, above all else, the Dallas Cowboys; you would have thought he played for the team. Donnell, Uncle D, Donnie Buck, D, or however you knew him, had a heart-of-gold. He was generous to a fault always willing to help anyone in need. If he did not have anything to give, he would share what he had.
When Donnell decided to accept the Lord as his personal Savior, his desire was to unite in Christian fellowship where his Mom and Dad held church memberships. Even though he lived in Pennsylvania, he joined Little Union Baptist Church in Amelia, VA. At times, Donnell would travel to attend church in person or attend virtually whenever he could.
On Sunday, July 2, 2023, the Lord said, “Donnell, it’s time to come home with me.” Donnell answered His call joining in eternal life his paternal grandparents, Frank and Martha Barley; and his maternal grandparents, Edward Pender and Mary Ellen Pender.
As we celebrate the life of our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Donnell Caywood Barley, our hearts are deeply saddened. (Pittman) Barley; brother, Benjamin Cyril Barley Sr.; sister, Dionne Barley Monroe; brother-in-law, Michael Monroe; aunts, Geraldine Dickens, Lelia Ann Purcelle and Claudia Forbes; uncle, Kelly Forbes; nephews, Benjamin Cyril Barley Jr. and Isaiah Goldsmith; nieces, Tyesn Barley, Devyn Monroe and Liryc Barley; along with other family members and friends.
