Obituary of Annie Gibson Mangola

Annie Gibson Mangola was born on April 5, 1930, to the late Percy and Lucy Gibson, in Jetersville, Virginia.  She was the seventh of ten children.  She attended public schools in Amelia County.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at St. James Baptist Church.

After attending grade school, she followed her siblings (Tee, Ella, Pattie, and Percy) to Washington, DC.  Then she moved to Miami, Florida near her sister, Ola Mae (Ivy).  There she met and married the love of her life, Alexjandro Mongola.  After several years in Florida, she and her husband moved to the DC area then to Virginia and then back to the DC area where they resided until her death.

Ann “lived and loved” life and was blessed to do so for 92 years.  During her younger years, she led what one might call “a wildlife style”.  Then, miraculously, she turned her life around and became a devout Christian in the Apostolic faith.  While in Virginia, she and her husband joined Pastor Worsham’s Apostolic Church.  In the DC area, they joined Fisherman of Men Church where she sang in the choir.

Ann who had limited resources gave what she could to others in need and to others in appreciation for the blessings that she received.  When her husband was ill, she was right by his side through the thick and thin.  And, during the time in Virginia and in DC, where her sister (Tee) needed assistance, both she and her husband were there for her.

Ann will be remembered for her good heartedness and vivacious personality; dedication to her husband and family; and devotion to her spiritual faith.

She is survived by a loving and devoted husband who attended to her every need; three sisters, Leemonia (Tee) Gibson and Pattie Patrick of Washington, DC, and Berta Bradley of Hyattsville, MD; one brother, Percy Gibson (Dorothy) of Washington, DC.  Her other sisters and brother preceded her in death. Also she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
